மு.க.வின் நோக்கம் என்ன?

Is (D)MK Desperate?

It appears that DMK or rather MK is desperate to win the forthcoming elections in TN.

What could be the reason?

  1. Hi Joseph

This might be the last election that the octogenarian Karunanidhi is fighting in his long political life. The skillful politician that Karunanidhi is, he fully realizes the implication of the electoral defeat (much like the how Vajapaye/Advani duo realized the NDA defeat might do to the BJP’S downfall)

If DMK bites the dust in this election, its very existence as a political party (atleast in the present form) will be under threat

And how the relationship between Marans and Stalin turns out will be interesting

Stalin might come to a view that SUN TV propaganda machinery was one of the reasons for a possible fiasco. He might force DMK to withdraw from Central Ministry to take a swipe at the Marans .Sun TV monopoly /perception that 13 Union ministers are non-performing will be one of the decisive reasons for poll outcome and Stalin may use this to achieve the objective marginalising Maran

The astute and savvy businessman than Kalannidi Maran is he will distance himself from the DMK so that he further his media ambitions. With Sun TV going for IPO, it might now have to become more professional and transparent. It cannot no longer be seen as propaganda arm of political party

Knowing the arrogant Jaya well, her confrontational style of politics might anatagonise Vaiko. If Vaiko has a strength of 25 MLA’S and DMK has around 40,I expect the cadres gravitating towards Vaiko.I feel Stalin is too soft to fight Jayalalitha politically

Interesting days ahead if DMK loses

That explains Karunanidhi anxiety or might be desperation. He wants to go out in glory but i have a feeling Tamil Electorate have decided differntly.

Its reliably learnt that CNN-The Hindu –CSDS poll is also prediciting Jaya comeback. This is a poll by respected psephologist Yogendra Yadav/Rajdeep Sardesai COMBINE.They have no axe to grind like the vernacular press here which have distinct bias(this poll might be featured this week in TV)

  2. Hi Prasanna,

You have done a wonderful postpoll analysis.

You must have ready in today's paper. Sun TV's IPO was oversubscribed by about 45 times! It has already collected Rs.600 crores, one of the highest IPO of the year!

This is a poll by respected psephologist Yogendra Yadav/Rajdeep Sardesai COMBINE.They have no axe to grind like the vernacular press here which have distinct bias(this poll might be featured this week in TV)//

It could be true but how far this prediction would turnout to be true.. we will have to wait and see.

  3. Hi di!

    DMK did bounce back. //

Yes. DMK as a party is so strong and has depth down to that last party worker on the streets! MK will not be missed much as either Stalin or somebody else would easy take over and run the party.

He will always be compared with him and looked down at//

May be true to a certain extent.

To be frank, the post MK period would relieve the party of the burden of mindless hatred towards AIADMK. Stalin would get along with J! much better than MK.

Personally I dont think DMK cadres will gravitate towards vaiko//

True. He has proved that he can't be trusted anymore. The way he has been harping on Sun TV not giving to his face! He is turning out to be a joker. Pathetic!

  5. yes,MK is desperate
1)tamilnads voting pattern differs in assembly& parliamentary electins(think of 1980 parliamentary electins)
2)on the eve of one election he compared himself to a dog
3"get me elected,i will handover the government to my friend(MGR) on
his safe return from U.S(1984 electin)
    4"nanbar nalambera nalvazthukkal;
    nadu nalambera DMKkku vakkugal)"
5)this matured politician-octgenerian,may be realising that the cadre is not in tact as it used to be
candidature of salma, raja(son of veerapandiyar) naganathan(triplicane)shows that he has yielded to pressures
    vaiko and saraths departure
but their allegations are against the inner circle of MK
    his health condition
inspite of all these, this octogenerian stands a better chance

  7. Hi Joseph

    Thanks for your nice words

Yaa i read the news on the roaring success of Sun TV IPO-no suprise considering the huge media empire Maran as built

You made a excellent observation-post karunanidhi, either if Stalin or Vaiko is in the helm of affairs in DMK the political culture in state is bound to improve.Personalised attack and vulgarity that is the cornerstone of today's politics may disappear-provided JJ too stops indulging -so many LUMPEN elements in ADMK

Stalin comes across as balanced and mature but unfortunately lacks the charisma and larger-than-life image that Vaiko/Mu Ka/JJ enjoy

Vaiko as leadeR of opposition too might be intersting .After all atleast the CM and leader of opposition can be on talking terms-which represents basic sembalance of any democratic arrangement

    Hi D The Dreamer

Yaa DMK has alwayed managed to comeback strongly-i remember after 1991 elections political obituary was written by its critics but they managed to bounce back handsomely in 1996

But now the situation is materially different.Feuding family and prospect of sitting in opposition for another 5 yrs-I am not sure.

I have a feeling that it might go the Shiv Sena way
